Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas to all of you! White Rose Senior Center is Decking the Halls, bringing “Merry” into the Center with singing, crafting, playing many Christmas Holiday Games, and bringing in the New Year (2020) with the dropping of the WRSC Turtle at 12:00 NOON on December 31st!

Happy Fall Y’all!!! Wow, October is here and the leaves are changing into magnificent colors! White Rose Senior Center has many “colorful” activities going on just for you!
Every year we get ready for the White Rose Senior Center Homecoming. This year the date will be Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 10:00-12:00. We have entertainment, refreshments, and of course the Homecoming Court planned for a colorful day! The 2018/2019 King, Anibal Burgos, and the 2018/2019 Queen, Beth Cassell, will step down and turn the reign over to two other great WRSC Members to reign for 2019/2020!
We have colorful crafts, Halloween Wreaths, a Fall Fest Chili Cook Off and wearing of your plaid, along with the Spooky Halloween Party scheduled on the 31st! So much fun is being planned and we would love for you to participate!

September brings the closure of the summer, back to school for the children, and the celebration of Senior Center Months to all of us at White Rose Senior Center! The 2019 theme is: Senior Centers: The Key to Aging Well!
“This September, the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) is demonstrating how senior centers are integral parts of aging well. Senior centers are the key for individuals to age healthily, and also for communities to properly support older adults.”
At White Rose Senior Center, we strive to bring the best services we can to make your life and day better and keep you well! We offer Zumba Gold, Balance & Strength Training, Tai Chi, dance class with Nicole & Jenna to keep you moving!
Danza Antiqua and Judeth Hawkins are bringing the Arts to stimulate your mind and creativity! The members are going WILD over this program! We are dancing our way through the decades and learning about International Folk Dances with Jef and Nancy (Danza Antiqua) and making craft projects from different cultures and celebrating their holidays and festivals. Both of these programs are made possible from a Senior Community Center Grant we received from the Department of Aging and the PA Council on the Arts.
We also have partnered up with the York County Area Agency on Aging to bring another date for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Vouchers. The date is Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 9:30-11:30. Click here for the form about the income amount and here for a proxy, etc.

Wow…the HEAT is on for August and we have a lot of COOL things planned for you! Danza Antiqua will be Dancing Through the Decades on Mondays, stART Something ARTS IN EDUCATION will begin on Tuesdays, a trip to Caledonia State Park for a picnic and swimming, a Mermaid/Beach Wreath will be made, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Vouchers will be distributed , Chair Massages will be given, a Bon Voyage Beach Party with Mock-tails will be enjoyed, refreshing ice cream will be served, a trip to Ride the Pride on the Susquehanna is being planned and Fruit Wine Bottle Painting are just a few highlights of the month!

2019 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program
Check this program out…you may qualify!
The York County Area Agency on Aging, in conjunction with the PA Department of Agriculture, will again distribute fruit and vegetable vouchers to qualifying seniors. The program provides $20.00 in vouchers to eligible York County Seniors to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from participating local farmers’ market. Vouchers are redeemable from June 1 through November 30, 2019.
Qualifying seniors must show proof of: (PA Driver’s license or PA ID is recommended)
York County Residency
60 years of age by December 31, 2019
Total Gross annual 2019 Household Income must be at or below:
$23, 107/single person household income
$31,284/ two person household - Both husband and wife can receive the vouchers if their combined
income is within the eligibility limits of two person household,
Seniors in nursing homes, personal care homes , or any residential facility where meals are provided are not
eligible to receive the vouchers.
