Meet Dave Canova

Dave is our newest Home Delivered Meal Driver for White Rose Senior Center! Dave began delivering meals in April 2018 after another Home Delivered Meal gentleman, Joe Haberle, wrote an article for the paper hoping to recruit additional drivers. We are always in need of people to help with this rewarding project.

"Why did you want to volunteer to deliver home delivered meals?"

Dave's response, "To help others!"

Criteria to Deliver Home Delivered Meals

  • Valid Driver's License
  • A Vehicle
  • A desire to help others who are homebound and have been assessed by York County Area Agency on Aging to receive the meal service.

How Do I Become a Home Delivered Meal Driver?

Call White Rose Senior Center at 717-843-9704 and speak with a staff member for additional information. The staff will review our policies about delivering meals and will offer you the opportunity to ride with another driver to learn a route.

How Often May I Volunteer & What is the Time Frame for Delivery?

Normally we deliver meals Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays unless there is a holiday. The meals are delivered to us from The Nutrition Group who has a contract with York County Area Agency on Aging. We repackage the meals and sort them into the various routes. We have soft cooler bags that the cold meals are placed in and a lightweight styrofoam cooler for the hot parts of the meal. We deliver the meals from 11:00 to 1:00. Some routes are shorter than others. Some volunteers deliver the meals once a week, twice a week, once a month, or are "fill-ins" when we are short drivers for a variety of reasons. We will be glad to work with your schedule! We have a FANTASTIC dedicated team of volunteers and we would love to add you to the list! Call now and get started making a difference in someone's life!
